Baseball arrived in Puerto Rico during the 1880s and by the early 1900s the island's fascination with the American game was at fever pitch. In 1918 an aggregation of the island's best talent traveled throughout Venezuela, Cuba, the Domincan Republic as the San Juan Borenquin Select All-Stars.
